Media Advisory: Hassan Yussuff to Speak at Alberta Pension Summit

Most Canadians not saving enough for retirement

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Nov. 25, 2010) - The Canadian Labour Congress and the Alberta Federation of Labour will convene a one-day pension summit in Edmonton on Saturday, November 27.

Hassan Yussuff, Secretary-Treasurer of the Canadian Labour Congress and Gil McGowan, president of the Alberta Federation of Labour, are among the speakers. Other featured speakers include Bernard Dussault, former Chief Actuary of the Canada Pension Plan, and Jon Kesselman, Canada Research Chair in Public Finance at Simon Fraser University in British Columbia.

Yussuff will be available for media comment prior to and during the summit. 

The CLC and its affiliated unions launched a national campaign in 2009 to promote pension reform. The labour movement believes that an enhanced Canada Pension Plan must be the cornerstone of retirement security.
