MEDIA ADVISORY - HEALTH CARE UNIONS FORM COMMON FRONT

Three unions representing 25,000 health-care workers to launch public information campaign to achieve fair agreements Attention: Business/Financial Editor, Health/Medical Editor, News Editor, Government/Political Affairs Editor SASKATOON AND REGINA--(CCNMatthews - Feb. 28, 2005) - Three unions representing the largest group of health care workers in the province are holding joint news conferences in Saskatoon and Regina on Monday, February 28, at 10 a.m.

The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and the Saskatchewan Government and General Employees Union (SGEU) are holding the news conferences to discuss the joint bargaining mandate of their 25,000 members employed in the health providers' group.

The three unions, currently bargaining at separate tables, have developed a "common front" to achieve fair and equitable agreements for their members.

The news conferences coincide with the launch of their province-wide media advertising campaign, which includes TV, radio and newspaper ads, as well as billboards.
