OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - April 8, 2013) - His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada, will tour Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Borden for the first time since his installation, on Wednesday, April 10, 2013, from 11 a.m to 2 p.m.
"As commander-in-chief, I take great pride in visiting Canadian Forces bases across Canada to witness first-hand the exceptional work that our men and women in uniform accomplish on a daily basis," said His Excellency. "It goes without saying that I look forward to meeting with my fellow Canadians who serve our country so well."
During his visit to CFB Borden, His Excellency will inspect the honour guard and receive the "Royal Salute", after which he will embark on an aerial tour of the base on board a CH-146 Griffon helicopter. The flight will allow the Governor General to see the base in its entirety, as well as observe the capabilities of 400 Tactical Helicopter Squadron and a demonstration by the Canadian Forces Fire and CBRN Academy. His Excellency will then visit the Multi-faith Facility to speak with padres and proceed to Dyte Hall where he will observe interactive displays from base units and lodger units located within the geographical boundaries of the base. He will conclude the day with a tour of the Canadian Forces Military Police Academy.
