Media Advisory: Hon. Tony Valeri-Federal Govt. House Leader To Address Canadian Club Of Toronto

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 12, 2005) - The Canadian Club of Toronto

A Question of Confidence: Governance in Today's World.

JOINTLY WITH CIBPA TORONTO
Hon. Tony Valeri
Government House Leader, Parliament of Canada
Friday, October 14, 2005 (NOON, Speech 1:00 PM)
Royal York Hotel, Ballroom

Hon. Tony Valeri often has the challenging job of safely guiding the ruling Liberals across a fractious and precarious minority government landscape. A week after holding off any opposition non-confidence votes, the Government of Canada House Leader, joins the Canadian Club and the CIBPA Toronto to talk about the public's declining confidence in our parliamentary system and in private institutions as well. He will look at the root causes of this decline, including leadership issues such as ethics, transparency and accountability and discuss how our government and the private sector are responding. Like clean water, clean air and a livable environment, Mr. Valeri believes strongly that good government and good governance, based on social trust and cohesion are necessary conditions for Canada to be a good society.

Minister Valeri will be available for questions following his speech - approx. 1:45 PM.
