OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - April 4, 2016) - It's not a secret, but Library and Archives Canada (LAC) holds in its collection the original copies of the Proclamation of the Constitution Act (1982). Deemed Canada's most important constitutional document, the two copies that are kept in preservation at LAC have had their share of adversity.
On a rainy day in April 1982, the original document was signed by Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II and Prime Minister Pierre Elliot Trudeau. In 1983, an art student poured red paint mixed with glue over the other copy.
Learn how through remarkable technological advancements in fields like document preservation, both copies of the Proclamation continue to be accessible for public viewing.
Library and Archives Canada Collection Manager Michael Smith will be the special guest during the second Library and Archives Canada presents series.
The conference will be given in English with simultaneous French translation.
