Media Advisory: How Tough is it to Drive a TTC Bus? Now it's Your Turn to Find Out

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - June 7, 2006) - On Friday, June 9th, the TTC is inviting the Toronto media to get behind the wheel of one of the new Orion VII low floor buses, and take it for a test drive. This is your opportunity to give your audience a first-hand account of exactly what it takes to drive one of those big city buses.

The skill-testing course is in place as TTC's best drivers prepare to compete in the 35th Annual Bus and Maintenance Roadeo.

Drive the course. You will be trained by expert bus drivers. Interview a former TTC champion. Take the serpentine challenge, check your clearances and stay away from those pylons! We dare you to take the challenge!

The Bus Roadeo competition takes place this coming Sunday over an obstacle course that is designed to challenge the most skilled urban bus driver. TTC drivers qualify during run-offs at the divisional level, and compete for top honours at the annual bus roadeo. The TTC also holds a Maintenance and Wheel-Trans competition. Sunday's Roadeo is not a public or media event.

Please RSVP to Danny Nicholson by Friday morning at 10:00 a.m. (416) 393-3898
