VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - April 24, 2014) - On April 23, an open letter with more than 850 signatories has been sent to the leaders of the federal government calling on them to address prostitution in a women's equality framework.
The letter explains that prostitution is a social institution that establishes and sustains the inequality between women and men. The signatories reject prostitution as a solution to women's poverty and urge party leaders to support a Nordic model approach to new legislation surrounding prostitution. The letter advocates that the Nordic model would lead to new programs for women in prostitution, and public education strategies that would reduce and ultimately eliminate prostitution in Canada.
The letter can be found here http://www.abolitionprostitution.ca/english/news.
