Media Advisory: In honour of Development Service Worker Appreciation Day, Essex County support workers invite community to Sunday's family skate

ESSEX, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Jan. 17, 2014) - To mark the day that honours their work with people with developmental disabilities, support workers in Essex County are treating their friends and neighbours to an afternoon of skating and hot chocolate at the Essex Centre Sports Complex, noon to 1 pm, on Sunday, January 19.

On behalf of the members of Local 3137 of the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local President Srila Perine sent out the invitation to all Essex residents: "Community is important to us and to the well being of the individuals we support. We are hoping that everyone can join us for an afternoon of fun, exercise and the chance to get to know each other better."

When: Sunday, January 19, noon to 1 pm

Where: Essex Centre Sports Complex, 60 Fairview Avenue, Essex

Developmental Service Worker Appreciation Day takes place across Ontario on Wednesday, January 29. The day recognizes the caring and dedication of the workers who provide support to adults with developmental disabilities and highlights the challenges currently facing the sector.
