Media Advisory: In honour of Developmental Service Worker Appreciation Day, the Hon. Ted McMeekin MPP joins frontline support workers on the job

HAMILTON, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - March 12, 2014) - On Thursday, March 13, local frontline workers in developmental services will host a visit to their workplace by the Honourable Ted McMeekin, MPP and Minister of Community and Social Services. The direct support workers are members of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE).

The Honourable Ted McMeekin, MPP for Ancaster-Dundas-Flamborough-Westdale, makes the visit in recognition of Developmental Services Worker Appreciation Day in Hamilton.

CUPE marks Developmental Service Worker Appreciation Day each year to highlight the vital supports and services that direct support workers provide to people with developmental disabilities throughout the community.

CUPE represents 8,000 direct support workers in developmental services in Ontario.
