Media Advisory: International Oil Industry Convenes for Kick-Off of World Heavy Oil Congress

Leading industry event welcomes Alberta Premier Jim Prentice and Honourable Frank Oberle, Minister of Energy

EDMONTON, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - March 23, 2015) -

WHAT: World Heavy Oil Congress, the world's largest gathering of heavy oil professionals, will kick-off its seventh edition tomorrow, in Edmonton. The event will begin at 8 a.m. at the Shaw Conference Centre, and will host a number of registered attendees, exhibitors and international delegates from March 24 through to March 26.
In keeping with this year's theme of 'Producing More with Less', the Congress will feature sessions from industry experts examining the challenges and opportunities facing the heavy oil sector. Attendees will receive an international perspective on how to remain competitive in a low dollar environment, manage costs and create long-term sustainability in the heavy oil industry, despite economic fluctuation.

Opening Ceremonies and remarks from Mayor Don Iveson, City of Edmonton and Mark Little, Congress Chairman and Executive Vice President, Upstream, Suncor.

Honourable Frank Oberle, Minister of Energy will begin a walking tour of the exhibition starting at 3:30 p.m.
Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at 12:30 p.m.
During the noon luncheon, Alberta Premier Jim Prentice will deliver a keynote speech addressing the Congress theme of 'Producing More with Less.'
Following the Business Conference program on Tuesday, March 24, the Technical Conference sessions will begin on Wednesday, March 25 and Thursday, March 26. The exhibition at the Congress will be held Tuesday, March 24 from noon to 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 25 from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Thursday, March 26 from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
