Media Advisory-Invitation: CrossIron Mills Earth Hour Event

CrossIron Mills to bullfrogpower equivalent of all households in Calgary and Airdrie with clean, renewable electricity for Earth Hour

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - March 18, 2014) -

ATTN: CALGARY AREA MEDIA

During Earth Hour (8:30 pm - 9:30 pm) on March 29, 2014, Bullfrog Power and CrossIron Mills will partner to bullfrogpower the equivalent of every household in Calgary and Airdrie (456 megawatt hours, 479,025 homes and apartments). All homes in the area will be bullfrogpowered with 100 per cent clean, pollution-free electricity for that hour. Bullfrog's green electricity comes from a blend of wind and low-impact hydro power sourced from new Canadian renewable energy facilities.

Additionally, on March 29, from 11:00 am - 5:00 pm, CrossIron Mills will be providing a free shopping bag exchange where the first 500 customers who bring a plastic bag to Guest Services will receive a free reusable shopping bag. Complimentary activity sheets will be provided for children and the mall will host an Eco Passport Contest, giving shoppers the chance to win a Bullfrog Prize Basket valued at $250. All shoppers will be encouraged to pledge their participation in Earth Hour that evening.

Media are invited to a behind-the-scenes tour of the centre's sustainability initiatives. The tour will feature the mall's Green room, recycling areas and water management facilities, which include an irrigation system and storm water management ponds. James Moller, General Manager, CrossIron Mills, will be available to answer questions about the partnership with Bullfrog Power for Earth Hour, and CrossIron Mills' facilities and sustainability goals.
