Media Advisory: Jobs First! Rally and March in Hamilton

Labour council, Canadian Labour Congress, and affiliates say protect people not profits

HAMILTON, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 19, 2009) - Workers in Hamilton and the surrounding area have been hard hit by layoffs during this economic crisis. The federal government has done little or nothing to protect jobs, to improve Employment Insurance for laid-off workers or to protect hard-earned pensions. The Hamilton and District Labour Council, the Canadian Labour Congress and its affiliates will hold a Jobs First! rally on Saturday, March 21 to provide a voice and a face to the job loss crisis affecting our community. Similar rallies will occur in cities across the country in coming weeks and months.
