Ottawa police chief Vernon White to receive 2010 award

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Nov. 23, 2010) - The Sens Foundation, Max Keeping Foundation and the Ottawa Citizen will host the 5th annual Just One Person (JOP) awards presented by Versaterm at a reception that will take place prior to the Ottawa Senators game against the Dallas Stars on Wednesday, Nov. 24. The reception will take place at 5 p.m. in Coliseum C, located at the lower level of Gate 2 at Scotiabank Place.

Vernon White, chief of police of the Ottawa Police Service, will officially receive the 2010 Just One Person award, as chosen by the selection committee.

Danielle Robinson, president of the Sens Foundation, and Max Keeping, community ambassador, CTV Ottawa and the Sens Foundation board chair, will host the event. The JOP event not only recognizes upstanding community members, but also raises money in support of post-secondary bursaries to former wards of the crown.

Also scheduled to be in attendance are Robert Gillett, president of Algonquin College, 2009 Just One Person award recipient Julie Tubman, and Andrée Cazabon, director of the award-winning documentary Wards of the Crown.

The Just One Person award celebration provides a great opportunity to learn about the challenges that youth living under the care of the Children's Aid Society experience every day. More than 800 Ottawa youth live in care. Funds raised at this year's event will help provide some of them with post-secondary educational opportunities.
