Media Advisory: Ken Georgetti to Attend G-20 Meetings in London, G-8 in Rome

CLC President will be available to media from London and Rome

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 25, 2009) - Ken Georgetti, Canadian Labour Congress President, will attend trade union meetings held in conjunction with the meeting of G-20 leaders in London next week. Georgetti will meet British Prime Minister Gordon Brown on March 31 along with other global union leaders. They will press labour's agenda for dealing with the international economic crisis.

Georgetti will also attend meetings associated with the G-8 Labour Ministers' gathering in Rome on March 29 and 30, including a meeting with the Honourable Diane Finley, Canada's HRSDC minister.

Georgetti will be available to the media in both London and Rome and will also make himself available for interviews originating in Canada.

The Canadian and international labour movements are insisting that governments meet and extend commitments made last fall to a major, co-ordinated stimulus package, and that governments place a priority on providing income support for millions of unemployed workers and their families.
