Media Advisory/Labour Day 2017: Canada's unions call for universal pharmacare

ST. JOHN'S, NEWFOUNDLAND AND LABRADOR--(Marketwired - Aug. 30, 2017) - CLC Secretary-Treasurer Marie Clarke Walker will be in St. John's to speak at the St. John's & District Labour Council's annual Labour Day picnic.

This year, Canada's unions are marking Labour Day with the launch of a campaign calling for prescription drug coverage for all Canadians. Find out more at www.aplanforeveryone.ca.

"One in five Canadians are paying out of pocket for their medication because they either don't have a prescription drug plan, or have plans that don't cover the cost," said Walker. "And women are less likely than men to have prescription drug coverage, in part because more women work part time. This needs to change."
