Leaders from CAW, Steel and CUPE to push back against rightwing agenda

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 12, 2009) - Labour leaders from the private and public sectors will come together at a conference panel organized by the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Ontario in Toronto today.

The panel brings together Canadian Auto Workers President Ken Lewenza, United Steelworkers of America President Wayne Fraser and CUPE Ontario President Sid Ryan. Media are invited to attend:

The panel is part of an effort by CUPE Ontario to help bring labour unions together to push back against the right-wing agenda calling for workers to give up wages and benefits to solve the economic downturn.

The labour leaders will tackle the challenges facing both the private and public sectors, and discuss strategies for turning the recession around and balancing its effects more equitably across society.
