OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Nov. 26, 2007) - This week, Library and Archives Canada (LAC) and its partners will launch an exciting new initiative designed to connect Canadians with their political and civic history, both online, and through events and activities during the year.

The LAC Forum on Canadian Democracy will be launched at a free public event entitled Legacies and Legends: Prime Ministers and their Memoirs, a discussion of Prime Ministers Mulroney and Chretien. This event is being held through a partnership with the University of Ottawa.

The panel discussion will deal with the impact, national implications, and lasting significance of the prime ministers' memoirs, and will include Jeffrey Simpson of The Globe and Mail, Manon Cornellier of Le Devoir, Patrice Roy of Societe Radio Canada and moderator Catherine Clark of CPAC.

The media are invited and refreshments will be served.
