Media Advisory-Local Residents Band Together to Clean Shorelines for the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup

Canadians Will Join the Kick-Off Event of This Conservation Initiative Between the Vancouver Aquarium and WWF to Clean Their Shorelines in Vancouver, on Saturday, September 15, 2012.

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Sept. 10, 2012) - Every September, thousands of Canadians band together to fight shoreline litter, a key threat to our waterways, by participating in the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup, presented by Loblaw Companies Limited. A conservation initiative of the Vancouver Aquarium and WWF, the Shoreline Cleanup is the largest direct action conservation program in Canada.

This year, more than 42,000 Canadians have already registered to clean up 1,374 locations across Canada. This year's Shoreline Cleanup runs September 15 to 23, 2012. To learn more or register today, please visit www.shorelinecleanup.ca.

Where Iona Beach, Richmond, B.C.
Note: There is limited parking onsite, so please carpool or take the Canada Line to the Templeton Sky Train Station. Parking will also be made available at the Templeton Sky Train Station. Between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., shuttle buses will be transporting participants between Iona Beach and the Templeton Sky Train Station. Iona Beach is also an easy bike ride from the Templeton Station.
