Media Advisory: Local Residents Band Together to Clean Shorelines for the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup

Canadians will join the kick-off event of this conservation initiative between the Vancouver Aquarium and WWF to clean their shorelines in Toronto on Saturday, September 15, 2012.

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Sept. 14, 2012) - Every September, thousands of Canadians band together to fight shoreline litter, a key threat to our waterways, by participating in the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup, presented by Loblaw Companies Limited. A conservation initiative of the Vancouver Aquarium and WWF, the Shoreline Cleanup is the largest direct action conservation program in Canada.

This year, more than 42,000 Canadians have already registered to clean up 1,374 locations across Canada. This year's Shoreline Cleanup runs September 15 to 23, 2012. To learn more or register today, please visit www.shorelinecleanup.ca.

Where Woodbine Beach, Toronto
Note: Located on Lake Ontario, between Coxwell and Woodbine Ave. Vehicles can access Woodbine Beach Park from Lakeshore Boulevard East, just east of Coxwell Avenue. Parking is available off Lakeshore at Northern Dancer Blvd. To access Woodbine Beach Park by public transit, take the Queen 501 Streetcar or the Bloor/Danforth subway line and exit at Woodbine Ave. From here, take the Woodbine 92 bus South. The park is only a few minutes walking distance south from the bus stop. Pedestrians and cyclists can reach the park from the Martin Goodman Trail and the Beaches Boardwalk.
