Media Advisory: Lord Stanley Memorial Monument location to be announced

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 14, 2013) - On March 18, 1892, Canada's Governor General, Lord Stanley of Preston, donated a "challenge cup", to be presented each year to the champion hockey team of the Dominion. This cup became known as the Stanley Cup, and the rest, as they say, is history.

The Lord Stanley Memorial Monument Committee is a volunteer group that has been working on a process to have a memorial monument built in honour of Lord Stanley's gift. The Committee will be announcing the selected site for the Monument at a press event. Details on the design competition, as well as next steps in the completion of the project will also be shared with the members of the media and general public.
