Media Advisory: March to the Governor General's Summer Concert Series Weekend

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - July 18, 2007) - The Governor General's Summer Concert Series kicks off with the famous Band of the Ceremonial Guard on Saturday and continues until Sunday with a selection of chamber music concerts. The series includes three free outdoor concerts on the grounds of Rideau Hall featuring an array of gifted performers.

Band of the Ceremonial Guard, Saturday, July 21, 4 p.m.

Enjoy one of Canada's oldest and best-known military bands perform brass music! The Band of the Ceremonial Guard includes brass and reed musicians, percussionists and pipers. The Ceremonial Guard can also be seen daily during the summer months at this historic residence performing at the changing of the guard ceremony. Led by a piper, the guards march to their posts at Sussex Gate, where their master corporal changes the guard by calling the duties of the sentries.

Chamberfest Concerts, Sunday, July 22

Rideau Hall is delighted to continue its partnership with the Ottawa Chamber Music Society and will be presenting two back-to-back concerts as part of Chamberfest 2007.

Norteno, Sunday, July 22, 1 p.m.

Enjoy the passionate music of this innovative Canadian Tango Nuevo quintet.

Sizzle with the Music, Sunday, July 22, 4 p.m.

Listen to an eclectic ensemble featuring: Duo Similia (flute and guitar); Serhiy Salov (piano); Jinjoo Cho (violin); Julie Nesrallah (soprano); Caroline Leonardelli (harp); and Anne-Julie Caron (piano).

The Governor General's Summer Concerts are a popular summer activity for the whole family. Audiences are invited to come early, bring a picnic and make an occasion of these outdoor events on the beautiful grounds of Rideau Hall.

ANNEX A-INFORMATION

Parking: Parking on the grounds will be limited to seniors and mobility-impaired visitors.

Media may enter through the Princess Anne Gate and park at a designated area.

Bike racks: Bicycles are not permitted on the grounds. Bicycle racks will be available at the entrances to the grounds.

Pets/alcohol: No pets or alcohol is permitted on the grounds.

Buses: We encourage the use of public transportation. OC Transpo bus route number 3 will take you to Rideau Hall. For more information on OC Transpo services and maps, visit www.octranspo.com or call 613-741-4390.

Weather: Concerts will be cancelled only under severe weather conditions, in which case announcements will be made on local radio stations.

Hours for public tours of the Residence:

- July 2 to September 3: Daily, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. (self-guided tours)
and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. (guided tours)

- September 4 to October 28: Saturdays and Sundays from 12 noon to 4 p.m.

Ceremonial Guard:

- June 24 to August 25: daily, on the hour, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
