Media Advisory: Media Availability With Joint Task Force Afghanistan

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 21, 2010) - Brigadier-General Dean Milner, Commander, Joint Task Force Afghanistan, and Mr. Tim Martin, the Representative of Canada in Kandahar (RoCK), will host a video teleconference, with Brig.-Gen Ahmed Habibi, Commander, 1-205 Corps, Afghan National Army on Friday, 22 October 2010, to provide an update on Canada's mission in Afghanistan.

What: Brig.-Gen. Milner, Brig.-Gen Ahmed Habibi, Commander, 1-205 Corps, Afghan National Army, and the RoCK, Mr. Tim Martin will each make a brief statement, addressing the following topics from their respective positions:

  • Defining the Task Force Kandahar (TFK) area of responsibility since assuming command on 9 September 2010 and TFK's role in upcoming ISAF operations;
  • Partnering and the relationship with the Afghan National Army in the TFK area of responsibility;
  • The Afghan mission from an Afghan National Army perspective;
  • Whole of government initiatives; and
  • Canada's integrated military-civilian partnership.

Once all three speakers have completed their statements, they will take questions on these topics for about 20 minutes.
