Media Advisory: Media Invitation to the 17th Ministerial Conference on the Canadian Francophonie


EDMONTON, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - June 25, 2012) - Federal, provincial and territorial ministers responsible for the Canadian Francophonie are meeting in Edmonton, Alberta, on June 26 and 27 for the 17th Ministerial Conference on the Canadian Francophonie. The theme of the conference is "Francophones and Francophiles: More than a Language in Common!"

The Honourable Heather Klimchuk, Minister of Alberta Culture responsible for the Francophone Secretariat, will co-chair the conference with the Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.

Media representatives can obtain their accreditation directly on site starting at 10:30 a.m. on June 26, and 12:30 p.m. on June 27, at the following events:

Tuesday, June 26, 2012
11:00 a.m. OPENING CONFERENCE - Catherine Clark, journalist and broadcaster
Catherine Clark will deliver the opening address and facilitate a discussion on the theme of the conference among a panel of guest speakers. The panel will look at opportunities to enhance the contribution of Francophiles and will outline strategies to increase their participation and feeling of belonging within the Canadian Francophonie.

2:00 p.m. PHOTO OPPORTUNITY - Before formal meetings of the conference begin
Photographers and camera operators will have access to the meeting to take photos and video footage before the conference begins.
