Media Advisory: Media Invited to Play Basketball Prior to CIS FINAL 8 Men's Basketball Championship

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 11, 2008) - On Wednesday, March 12, Scotiabank Place is inviting members of the Ottawa media to take to the hardwood to hone their basketball skills as the building and City of Ottawa prepare to welcome the nation at this weekend's Canadian Interuniversity Sport FINAL 8 Men's Basketball Championship, presented by Milk.

Media are invited to the court to test their shooting prowess and dribbling techniques two days prior to the start of the tournament. The top-ranked Carleton University Ravens (Ottawa) defend their five consecutive CIS titles on Friday evening when they play the University of Alberta Golden Bears (Edmonton, Alta.) at 8 p.m. in their opener. The tournament gets underway on Friday at 11:30 a.m. when the third seed Saint Mary's University Huskies (Halifax) oppose the sixth seed University of Western Ontario Mustangs (London, Ont.). From 9:15 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, the court will be reserved for use by Ottawa media. If numbers allow, teams will be formed for a recreational game.

Those persons interested in participating in this event are asked to RSVP to Chris Moore. Media representatives are asked to enter Scotiabank Place via the Gate 3 media entrance. Change rooms will be provided for both men and women. Participants are asked to please bring appropriate indoor footwear.
