Media Advisory: Media Opportunity for Operation Nunalivut 2012 in the High Arctic

YELLOWKNIFE, NORTHWEST TERRITORIES--(Marketwire - April 4, 2012) - Media are invited to attend Operation Nunalivut 2012, in the vicinity of Resolute Bay, Nunavut, from April 15 to 26, 2012.

This opportunity will give media a first-hand look at members of the Canadian Forces carrying out their operational tasks. In order to facilitate media coverage of this operation, programs will be specifically built in accordance with the media's objectives, availability and activities being conducted during that specific time.

Participants are responsible to cover all costs associated with travelling to and from Resolute Bay, Nunavut. Media are also responsible for their own meals and lodgings.

Joint Task Force (North) will conduct Operation Nunalivut 2012 in the High Arctic from April 10 to May 1st, 2012, in order to demonstrate Canadian Forces expeditionary capabilities in response to a Whole of Government safety driven mission.

Operation Nunalivut 2012 is one of three major operations conducted every year in Canada's North and will involve personnel from the Canadian Rangers, Canadian Army, Royal Canadian Navy, and the Royal Canadian Air Force, under the Command of Joint Task Force (North).

As one of six regional commands reporting to Canada Command in Ottawa, Joint Task Force (North) is responsible for the conduct of all routine and contingency operations in Canada's North.
