Media Advisory: Members of the Professional Institute to Rally in Sherbooke on September 19 in Support of Public Services

SHERBROOKE, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Sept. 19, 2014) - In Sherbrooke today, at lunch time, hundreds of federal public service employees represented by the Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada (PIPSC) will hold a rally in support of public services for Canadians.

Over the past few years, and particularly since the 2012 federal budget, the public service has faced ongoing budget, program and staff cuts. In response, its professionals have been vigorously defending evidence-based decision-making, government science, and a regulatory regime that protects Canadians' health, their environment, and their collective economic prosperity.

PIPSC, in solidarity with fellow union Public Service Alliance of Canada will be rallying for 19 minutes to focus on the importance of the next federal election set to take place on October 19 2015.

Event: Rally in front of the CBC/Radio-Canada regional facilities (1335, rue King Ouest)
Date: Friday, September 19, 2014
Time: Rally/Speeches at around 11:45 a.m.-12 p.m.

The Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada represents some 55,000 professionals and scientists across Canada's public sector.
