Media Advisory: Minister Blackburn Pays Tribute in Ottawa to Veterans

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Nov. 9, 2010) - The Honourable Jean-Pierre Blackburn, Minister of Veterans Affairs and Minister of State (Agriculture), will participate in two events in Ottawa honouring Canada's Veterans on November 10, 2010.

Minister Blackburn will attend the Odawa Native Friendship Centre's Annual Veteran's Feast, held in recognition and honour of Aboriginal Veterans. First Nations, Métis and Inuit Veterans, their families and other guests will gather to enjoy an evening feast, listen to Aboriginal drummers and to Veterans' wartime stories. The year 2010 marks the 19th anniversary of this annual event.

Later, Minister Blackburn will attend a commemorative ceremony to honour Canadian men and women who served in the Korean War. This year marks the 57th anniversary of the armistice of the Korean War. The National Capital Unit of the Korea Veterans Association of Canada (KVA) is holding the ceremony in Ottawa to coincide with a Remembrance Day ceremony at the United Nations Memorial Cemetery in Busan, Korea. Veterans and Canadian Forces representatives will also attend the ceremony. Media are invited to attend.
