Media Advisory: Minister of National Defence and Chief of the Defence Staff to Attend Edmonton Oilers Game with 5000 Troops

EDMONTON, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Nov. 24, 2007) - The Honourable Peter Gordon MacKay, Minister of National Defence and Minister of the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, and General Rick Hillier, Chief of the Defence Staff, will attend the Edmonton Oilers hockey game tonight. Minister MacKay and General Hillier will be joined by two local soldiers to perform the ceremonial puck drop.

Dubbed as 'Tickets for the Troops', over 5000 tickets for tonight's game were donated to the Edmonton Garrison from Edmonton Oilers season ticket holders, the Edmonton Oilers Hockey Club and Rexall Place.

DATE: Saturday, November 24, 2007.

LOCATION: Rexall Place, 7424 118 Avenue NW, Edmonton, Alberta.

TIME: The ceremonial puck drop will take place shortly after 8pm local time. The hockey game will commence shortly thereafter.
