Media Advisory: Minister of Veterans Affairs Commendation Presentation

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Sept. 14, 2007) - Media are invited to attend a September 16 ceremony at which the Honourable Greg Thompson,

Minister of Veterans Affairs, will present the Minister of Veterans Affairs Commendation and launch a national partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada.

Commendations will be presented to the following recipients from Atlantic Canada:

Levite Paradis, Saint John, New Brunswick

Donald Robart, Temperance Vale, New Brunswick

Ray Boutilier, Hackett's Cove, Nova Scotia

Fred Richardson, Yarmouth, Nova Scotia

George Thorne, Sydney, Nova Scotia

Thomas White, New Victoria, Nova Scotia

Dorothy Jean Gogan, Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island

Betty MacLachlan, Stratford, Prince Edward Island.

The Commendation will be presented posthumously to the family of Mr. William Lundrigan, Upper Island Cove, Newfoundland and Labrador. The Minister of Veterans Affairs Commendation recognizes individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to the care and well-being of Veterans or who have been instrumental in raising awareness of Veterans' contributions, sacrifices and achievements.
