Media Advisory: Minister of Veterans Affairs Commendation Presentations and Unveiling of Veterans' Week 2006 Poster

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 16, 2006) - Media are invited to attend a special ceremony with the Honourable Greg Thompson, Minister of Veterans Affairs, for the presentation of the Minister of Veterans Affairs Commendation on Wednesday, October 18, 2006.

The Commendation will be presented to:

The Minister of Veterans Affairs Commendation recognizes individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to the care and well-being of Veterans or who have been instrumental in raising awareness of Veterans' contributions, sacrifices and achievements.

The eleven recipients will join the Minister in unveiling the 2006 Veterans' Week Poster which highlights the theme "Share the Story". During Veterans' Week, November 5 to 11, Canadians, especially youth, will be encouraged to learn about our Veterans, listen to their stories, share them with their peers and carry the torch of remembrance well into the future.
