Hope and resolve inspire the campaign launch of the first Candlelight Walk for Missing Children

WHEN: Monday, August 17th, 2009

WHAT:
- Four searching families of missing children from BC will be
assembling together to officially launch the campaign leading up to
the first ever Candlelight Walk for Missing Children.

- The families have been working for the past several months to help
organize the Candlelight Walk, which is in support of the Missing
Children Society of Canada (MCSC). The Walk is set to take place on
September 26th at Deer Lake Park at 4pm, with a candlelight vigil to
follow at 7pm.

Funds raised will help continue the search for missing children
across Canada.

- Bryan Braumberger - missing from Burnaby, BC since May 31, 2007

- Jeffrey Surtel - missing from Mission, BC since April 29, 2007

- Brittany Stalman - missing from North Delta, BC since November 13,
2006

- Lindsey Nicholls - missing from Comox Valley, BC since August 2,
1993

WHY:
- An average of 60,000 children are reported missing every year in Canada.
That's the equivalent of 1 child every 9 minutes.
- MCSC helps approximately 300 searching families every year and has
assisted police in closing over 5,800 missing children cases since 1986.
