OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - May 27, 2013) - Business innovation is a driver of growth, productivity and competitiveness. However, the role of management in this transformation is often forgotten. And yet, it is management of the innovation process that ensures ROI on a company's innovation spend.
R&D managers must have strong research and business skills to provide appropriate leadership. But in Canada, there is an acknowledged R&D management talent gap. To what extent is this stalling business innovation? And what, if anything, we can do about it?
This forum will investigate these issues by tackling questions such as:
- How do we translate R&D into business innovation that helps Canadian companies grow?
- What is the role of the research community in developing Canada's R&D management talent?
This half-day event will feature key-notes by the Hon. Gary Goodyear, Minister of State (Science and Technology), the Hon. Lynne Yelich, Minister of State (Western Economic Diversification) and Dr. Chad Gaffield, President of the Social Sciences & Humanities Research Council. As well, two panels, moderated by Paul Wells, Political Editor for Maclean's Magazine and Barrie McKenna, National Business Correspondent for the Globe and Mail, will explore these issues in more detail.
