Media Advisory: Montreal Hosts 50th Anniversary Celebrations for Committee on Space Research

Premier Gathering of the World's Space Scientists

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - July 9, 2008) - Montreal is hosting the 37th International Scientific Assembly and celebrating the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Committee on Space Research (COSPAR). The Canadian Space Agency and National Research Council of Canada are co-sponsoring the weeklong gathering of more than 2,000 of the world's leading space scientists.

This historic celebration will bring together space scientists from around the world to present and exchange their scientific results in sessions and plenaries on a wide range of topics, to which representatives of the media are invited:

- Space Studies of the Earth's Surface, Meteorology and Climate

- Space Studies of the Earth-Moon System, Planets, and Small Bodies of the Solar System

- Space Studies of the Upper Atmospheres of the Earth and Planets including Reference Atmospheres

- Space Plasmas in the Solar System, including Planetary Magnetospheres

- Research in Astrophysics from Space

- Life Sciences as Related to Space

- Materials Sciences in Space

- Fundamental Physics in Space
