Media Advisory: Naomi Klein, Stephen Lewis, Paul Moist to headline climate change rally Supporting Leap Manifesto vision in lead up to Paris Climate Summit

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - Nov. 5, 2015) - National unions, First Nations, environmental, social justice and youth groups will join together at Jack Poole Plaza in Vancouver at noon on Nov. 5 to demand action on climate change that creates jobs, justice and sustainable communities.

Hundreds are expected to gather at Jack Poole Plaza to rally to support the Leap Manifesto, a declaration released in mid-September that calls on the Canadian government to honour Indigenous rights, reinvest in the public sphere and move toward a clean and just economy fuelled by renewable energy.

Set during the Canadian Union of Public Employees National Convention in Vancouver, the rally will bring together a broad coalition calling for fundamental change in the wake of the federal election.

About the Leap Manifesto:

Signed by authors, artists and more than a hundred organizations including labour unions and social justice groups, as well as 30,000 individuals, the declaration is a non-partisan initiative outlining a "Leap" that can be achieved in around three decades by transitioning off fossil fuels and expanding low-carbon sectors, unleashing renewable energy, honouring Indigenous rights, welcoming migrants and refugees and creating a more local and ecological agricultural system.
