MEDIA ADVISORY: National Academy of Public Administration Unveils Report Recommending Formation of New Climate Service Office

New Office in the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Would Research, Organize and Deliver Authoritative Climate Science Information

WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwire - September 21, 2010) -

WHAT: The National Academy of Public Administration (NAPA) will release a report detailing the results of its comprehensive study on options for a new federal entity for climate science and services. The document details the creation of a Climate Service line office in the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and recommends that the administration give it the authority to act as the lead federal agency for research, services and information. The report further suggests a specific organization and leadership structure for the new office. NAPA issued its findings based on research that included organizational analysis, stakeholder interviews, roundtable discussions and online dialogues. It undertook the study at the request of the U.S. Congress.
