Health professionals demonstrate on June 18 across the country to protest federal cuts to health care for refugees

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - June 18, 2012) - Health professionals opposed to cuts to health care for asylum seekers and refugees are holding an unprecedented cross-Canada Day of Action in over 13 Canadian cities in hopes of convincing the Harper government to roll back these cuts, scheduled to take effect on June 30, 2012.

Reducing access to basic health care for asylum seekers and refugees involves a costly risk to public health and is contrary to fundamental ethical values of respect for human dignity, the right to health, and non-discrimination.
