Media Advisory: National Day of Honour


TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - May 8, 2014) - Media are invited to attend the National Day of Honour parade at LCol George Taylor Denison III Armoury on Friday May 9, 2014.

Prime Minister Harper made the Royal Proclamation on 18 March, 2014 that May 9th would be a National Day of Honour. Numerous events will be held across the country to honour the fallen and their families, and the more than 40, 000 Canadian Armed Forces members who served in Afghanistan to combat terrorism and rebuild the country.

When: Friday, May 9, 2014, 1:00 p.m. (media to arrive no latter than 12:30 p.m.)

Where: LCol George Taylor Denison III Armoury, 1 Yukon Lane, Toronto, Ontario

What: The National Day of Honour marks the end of the 12-year Canadian Armed Forces mission in Afghanistan. It is a one-time event to honour all those who fought, to remember those who fell and to salute all those who contributed to Canada's military engagement in Afghanistan.
