Media Advisory: National Public Transit Conference in Niagara Falls


NIAGARA FALLS, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Nov. 14, 2014) - Public transit leaders and professionals will gather in Niagara Falls next week to attend the CUTA Fall Conference and Trans-Expo from Monday November 17-19. Ontario's Leadership in Public Transit, Energy Efficiency, Surface Transportation Security, Customer Engagement Strategies, Niagara's Transit Success Story and Rail Projects are just some of the sessions that are open to media.

The conference is being hosted by Niagara Transit, St. Catharine's Transit Commission, Welland Transit, and Niagara Parks. Meetings and sessions will take place at the Fallsview Casino and Resort and the one-day Trans-Expo will take place on Tuesday November 18 at the Scotiabank Convention Centre.

Most sessions are open to the media. Opening addresses by Dave Stewart, General Manager, Niagara Transit; Kathleen Wynn, Premier of Ontario (by video); Michael Roschlau, President and CEO of CUTA; Daniel Bergeron, Chair of the Board of Directors.
Keynote address by John Brodhead, Executive Director of Evergreen CityWorks.
Tuesday, November 18 - Scotiabank Convention Centre, Niagara Falls
7:40 a.m. to 9:20 p.m. Official opening of Trans-Expo 2014, Canada's Bus and Transit Exhibition, and keynote address by Steven Del Duca, MPP Vaughan.
Trans-Expo will feature the most innovative products and services in the public transit industry.
8:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Media tours
Wednesday, November 19 - Fallsview Casino and Resort
8:00 - 9:30 a.m. Individual Leadership Awards presented. CUTA recognizes the hard work, dedication and innovation of transit employees and industry advocates from across Canada.
12:30 p.m. Closing lunch with keynote address by Mark Aesch, former Chief Executive Officer of the Rochester Genesee Regional Transportation Authority.
