Media Advisory: New accessibility act to impact community services

Attention: Assignment Editor, City Editor, Health/Medical Editor OTTAWA--(CCNMatthews - March 20, 2006) - "Building Momentum for an Accessible Ontario" is a one day forum designed to introduce participants to the new "Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act" and its goal of making this province a world leader in breaking down barriers for people with disabilities.

The Ministry of Community and Social Services in partnership with the Ontario Community Support Association (OCSA) is launching regional information sessions on Wednesday, March 22, 2006.

A briefing from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. will take place to review the new legislation and how it is likely to be applied in the Ottawa community and the not-for-profit sector. Clients and service providers will also be available to comment on the forum on behalf of the disability community.
