Media Advisory: No Private Residence at Trent Coalition Expands Campaign in Advance of Critical Public Meeting

PETERBOROUGH, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - May 28, 2009) - In advance of a crucial public meeting on the proposed private residence on the Trent University Campus, No Private Residence at Trent (NPRT), a broad-based coalition of concerned student, labour and community groups has undertaken an innovative campaign to mobilize public attention.

In addition to regular radio advertisements, NPRT has expanded a public outreach campaign to include advertising on buses and galvanizing opposition to the proposed project through developing relationships with other concerned individuals and groups.

The coalition was formed in response to grave concerns about the flawed proposal. NPRT believes Trent University should not be in the business of selling off chunks of the Trent campus to private developers. As well, NPRT believes this development, if approved, would have a negative impact on Peterborough's downtown core, and potentially have negative environmental effects.

NPRT members will be on hand at tonight's public meeting, which will take place at 7:00 p.m. at Northminster United Church. The church is located at 300 Sunset Boulevard in Peterborough.
