MEDIA ADVISORY: North American Partners in Anesthesia Mourns Loss of Partner James Robins, MD

MELVILLE, NY--(Marketwired - January 07, 2015) - James Robins, MD, a long-time partner of North American Partners in Anesthesia (NAPA), passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2015. He had been battling lymphoma since 2012.

For more than 25 years, Dr. Robins served as an attending anesthesiologist at Long Island Jewish Medical Center as well as at the Steven and Alexandra Cohen Children's Medical Center of New York. As a respected partner of NAPA, he was instrumental in helping to build NAPA into the vibrant organization it is today.

Dr. Robins grew up in Brooklyn, NY, where he went on to receive his medical degree from the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center. Upon graduating, Dr. Robins spent the beginning of his career in the specialties of Surgery at Downstate and in Urology at Maimonides Medical Center, before finding his true calling and passion in the field of Anesthesiology. He went on to continue his training as an anesthesiologist with fellowships in Cardiac and Pediatric Anesthesia at the Health Science Center in Brooklyn.

Prior to joining NAPA in 1997, Dr. Robins held positions as an attending physician at facilities including Brooklyn Veterans Memorial Hospital, University Hospital of Brooklyn and Long Island College Hospital. In addition, he had a strong investment in education previously serving as an Assistant Professor, Department of Anesthesiology at State University of New York Health Science Center in Brooklyn and more recently, as a trustee of the Cold Spring Harbor School District's board of education.

Dr. Robins was a diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners and the American Board of Anesthesiology. He was a member of the ASA, NYSSA and the Society of Pediatric Anesthesia.

Dr. Robins is survived by his wife, Connie and two sons.
