WHAT Interactive lecture for homeless women in Los Angeles on
the importance of self-esteem, and the role of self-esteem
                in rebuilding their lives

WHEN Friday, June 20, 10:30-11:30 a.m.

WHERE The Downtown Women's Center, 325 South Los Angeles Street,
                Los Angeles

WHO Dr. Tseday Aberra, Monica Martinez (DWC Senior Director of
Programs & Community Education), Los Angeles homeless women

WHY While the overwhelming majority of homeless women in the
U.S. suffer from severe lack of self-esteem, it is an issue
that often does not get addressed. Studies have shown that
improved self-esteem can be the single greatest asset to a
woman attempting to rebuild her life.

MEDIA Press may cover the event, interview Dr. Aberra and DWC
directors and speak with local homeless women.

DWC Founded in 1978, the Downtown Women's Center is a
nationally recognized nonprofit organization that provides
40,000 meals, 47 permanent supportive housing apartments,
and a wide array of health, education and other supportive
services to more than 2000 homeless and very low-income
women each year. The Center offers a warm, friendly
atmosphere that encourages homeless women to commit to
their own betterment and healing process. Its supportive
community and much-needed resources allow homeless women to
reconnect with their sense of self, reclaim goals lost in
the day-to-day struggle for survival on the streets, and
                move toward self-sufficiency.
