Media Advisory: Nova Scotia Highway Workers' Union to Hold 'Info Picket' at Opening of Legislature, Nov. 28

HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA--(Marketwired - Nov. 25, 2013) - Province House will be the site of an information picket by the province's highway workers on Thursday afternoon, the day the new session opens.

The Nova Scotia Highway Workers' Union (CUPE Local 1867) will be handing out flyers on the McNeil government's plans to pull the plug on the public paving plant that was purchased less than two years ago.

This is the third such event by Local 1867. Info pickets have been held at Transportation Minister Geoff MacLellan's office in Glace Bay, as well as the Premier's office in Middleton.

The union is also running large newspaper ads in all of the province's daily newspapers today, detailing the work that was done by the public plant in remote communities that hadn't seen paving work in decades. The print ad can be seen here:

(ATTENTION ASSIGNMENT/PHOTO EDITORS: The event will take place on November 28, at 1:30 pm in front of the legislature.)
