MEDIA ADVISORY: Ontario Ombudsman to Release Report on OPP Handling of Operational Stress Injuries-October 24

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 19, 2012) - Ontario Ombudsman André Marin will release a report on his latest investigation on Wednesday, October 24 - at a news conference at 1 p.m. in the Queen's Park Media Studio.

He will report on his investigation into how the Ontario Provincial Police and the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services have addressed operational stress injuries affecting police officers.

Prior to the news conference, there will be a technical briefing for journalists from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. in Committee Room 2, where copies of the Ombudsman's report will be distributed (under embargo until the news conference). Senior staff of the Ombudsman's office will be available to answer questions on background. Journalists who are not members of the Queen's Park Press Gallery are asked to report to Room 387A of the Legislative Building for passes, or call Gerald Christopher at 416-325-7922.

The news conference will be streamed live and can be watched online at the Ombudsman's website, www.ombudsman.on.ca, where the full report and media materials will also be posted at 1 p.m. As well, live updates will be posted at the Ombudsman's Twitter account - www.twitter.com/Ont_Ombudsman.
