Media Advisory: Ontario Ombudsman Releases Report on Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities' Oversight of Cambrian College

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Aug. 20, 2009) - Ontario Ombudsman Andre Marin will release his latest special report on Tuesday, August 25 - at an 11 a.m. news conference in the Queen's Park Media Studio.

He will report on his investigation into Cambrian College's administration of its Health Information Management Program and the oversight provided by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. Students who graduated from the Sudbury college's program complained that it did not adequately qualify them for jobs in their chosen field.

Prior to the news conference, there will be a technical briefing for journalists from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. in Committee Room 2, where copies of the Ombudsman's report will be available (under embargo until the news conference). Senior members of the Ombudsman's staff will be available to answer questions on background. Journalists who are not members of the Queen's Park Press Gallery are asked to report to Room 387A of the Legislative Building for passes, or call Gerald Christopher at 416-325-7922. Out-of-town media who are unable to attend may arrange to ask questions or have embargoed materials sent to them electronically (see Communications contacts below).

When the news conference begins at 11 a.m., the full report and media materials will be posted online at the Ombudsman's website, www.ombudsman.on.ca . Video of the news conference will also be posted on the website and YouTube later in the day.
