Media Advisory-Ontario Trucking Association: Truckers To Be Honoured for Roadside Rescue at National Transportation Week Awards Ceremony

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - June 8, 2005) -

National Transportation Week (Ontario) 2005 Award Breakfast

An Ontario truck driver and two other employees from the same trucking company will be honoured this morning for their heroic roadside rescue of accident victims trapped in burning vehicles following a road accident last summer.

What: The three men will be presented with an Award of Valor this morning at the 36th annual National Transportation Week (Ontario) Awards Breakfast in Toronto.

When: Wednesday, June 8, 2005; Awards approx. 8:20 am

Who: Trucking industry officials, Ontario Transportation the Honourable Harinder Takhar

Where: Doubletree International Plaza Hotel, 655 Dixon Road.

Why: Each year, during the first week of June, Canadians observe National Transportation Week in recognition of the hundreds of thousands of men and women who keep Canada moving safely, efficiently and reliably. National Transportation Week runs June 1-10, 2005.

The Ontario NTW committee is made up of representatives from CAA Ontario, GO Transit, Ontario Motor Coach Association, Ontario School Bus Association, Ontario Trucking Association and Toronto Transit Commission. For thirty-six years this committee has been promoting the importance of transportation to the Ontario economy.
