Media Advisory/OPERATION REASSURANCE: A First Group of Valcartier Soldiers Return From Europe


VALCARTIER, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Aug. 23, 2016) - Media representatives are invited to attend the return of an initial group of CAF members from Valcartier this Wednesday in the early hours of the morning following their participation in the fifth rotation of Operation REASSURANCE in Central and Eastern Europe.

When: Wednesday, August 24, 2016, 1:30 a.m. (arrival of aircraft/media event)
Where: International Flights Terminal at Jean Lesage International Airport
in Quebec City
What: Welcome of troops in the presence of friends and family

Most of the 120-or so soldiers returning to Canada after around six months of deployment are from 1st Battalion, Royal 22e Régiment, led by 5 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group based in Valcartier. Operation REASSURANCE refers to the activities undertaken by the Canadian Armed Forces in support of the reassurance measures implemented by NATO, including military capabilities relating to training, exercises, demonstrations and NATO assigned tasks.
