Media Advisory/OPERATION REASSURANCE: A Second and Last Group of Valcartier Soldiers Return from Europe

VALCARTIER, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Aug. 28, 2016) - Media representatives are invited to attend the return of a second and last group of CAF members from Valcartier this Monday in the early hours of the morning following their participation in the fifth rotation of Operation REASSURANCE in Central and Eastern Europe.

	When:	Monday, August 29, 2016, 1:30 a.m. (arrival of aircraft/media event)
	Where:	International Flights Terminal at Jean Lesage International Airport in Quebec City
	What:	Welcome of troops in the presence of friends and family

Most of the 95-or so soldiers returning to Canada after around six months of deployment are from 1^st Battalion, Royal 22^e Régiment, led by 5 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group based in Valcartier. This group of soldiers is in addition to approximately 120 colleagues that already came back home last Wednesday.

Operation REASSURANCE refers to the activities undertaken by the Canadian Armed Forces in support of the reassurance measures implemented by NATO, including military capabilities relating to training, exercises, demonstrations and NATO assigned tasks.

Media representatives planning to go to the airport are kindly requested to inform the public affairs officer as soon as possible by email. Should no reporter express interest to be present at the greeting of the troops, members of the Public Affairs team won't be present at the terminal. In such case, media representatives will have to approach returning troops and their families by themselves to obtain interviews.

Considering the early arrival time of the flight, pictures of the reception of troops with their loved ones will be made available to reporters wishing to cover this homecoming without having to travel to the Airport.
