Media Advisory/Ottawa Community Housing: Near Zero Energy Retro Fit

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - May 21, 2009) - Ottawa Community Housing (OCH), is pleased to invite the media to join us on Friday, May 22nd for this Energy Conservation Week celebration. We will unveil our plans to convert a 60-year-old wartime house into a near zero energy home.

Ottawa Community Housing teamed up with The Now House Project and Hydro Ottawa to bring sustainable design to the retrofit of this wartime bungalow. When it's completed, this home will have an energy bill of zero, reduce its annual greenhouse gas emissions by more than 10 tonnes and provide a more comfortable, healthy environment for years to come. It will be an example of how to improve the environmental performance of existing housing stock through a combination of conservation and renewable generation.
