Media Advisory: Ottawa Senators Prepare for Bell Sens Soiree Manhattan on Saturday, Jan. 22

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Jan. 20, 2011) - The 2011 Bell Sens Soirée Manhattan presented by Ferguslea Properties Limited, the premier fundraising event of the Sens Foundation, will be held on Saturday, Jan. 22, at the Hilton Lac-Leamy Convention Centre in Gatineau, Que.

This year's event, which is themed "Manhattan," will feature elements of the city, including Central Park, Fifth avenue and Broadway, along with entertainment by musical act Best of Broadway and DJ Andrew Carter. Senators' public-address announcer Stuntman Stu of 93.9 BOB FM will be the MC for the evening.

Guests will have an opportunity to try out their skills at a variety of games alongside Senators president Cyril Leeder and his wife, Lydia, who will be joining Senators players and their wives and guests as celebrity hosts for the event. Sens Foundation president Danielle Robinson and Bell vice-president of professional services Gary Cameron will also be on hand to greet guests in support of local healthcare institutions. Those in attendance will also have the chance to bid on spectacular auction items and enjoy a gourmet meal prepared by one of the finest chefs in the region. More than 800 guests are expected for the evening, which is considered one of the premier social events of the year.

The Senators and the Sens Foundation, through their annual dinner/soirée event, have provided more than $2.5 million to area charities since 1992. This year's event will raise funds for child and youth programs at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO), la Fondation de CSSS de Gatineau, Royal Ottawa Foundation for Mental Health, Queensway Carleton Hospital Foundation, Ottawa Rotary Home Foundation and Roger's House.

In May 2006, Bell and the Sens Foundation announced a commitment to raise $1 million for CHEO over five years. The 2011 Bell Sens Soirée represents the culmination of that commitment.

Who: Senators president Cyril Leeder, Sens Foundation president Danielle Robinson, Bell vice-president of professional services Gary Cameron, CHEO Foundation president Fred Bartlett, Ottawa Senators players/coaches and their wives and guests.

When: Saturday, Jan. 22, starting at 5:30 p.m.

Media opportunity: 5:45 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. – Designated media availability with Cyril Leeder, Danielle Robinson, Gary Cameron, Fred Bartlett, Daniel Alfredsson, Mike Fisher and Chris Phillips. Alfredsson will be representing the Royal Ottawa Hospital Foundation for Mental Health, Fisher is the honorary chair of Roger's House while Phillips represents the Queensway Carleton Hospital Foundation. Following this period, there will also be an opportunity for media to obtain photographs and b-roll of Senators players as they host guests at gaming tables.

Event schedule: VIP reception 5:30 p.m. to 6:15 p.m; cocktails, silent auctions and gaming 6:15 p.m. to 7:30 p.m; player introductions, entertainment and dinner 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m; dessert, live auctions and cheque presentations 9 p.m. to 9:45 p.m; after party hosted by DJ Andrew Carter and dancing from 10 p.m. to 12 a.m.
